PneumoShield 14 is a 14-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine developed by Abbott India to provide the broadest protection against pneumococcal infections in children. It safeguards infants from 6 weeks of age against 14 serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae, the bacteria responsible for life-threatening illnesses such as pneumonia, meningitis, and sepsis. With a 3-dose schedule at 6, 10, and 14 weeks, PneumoShield 14 offers wider coverage compared to PCV-10 and PCV-13, ensuring stronger defense during early childhood. Designed with high safety standards, it helps reduce child mortality due to pneumococcal disease, making it a vital vaccine in India’s pediatric immunization portfolio.

PneumoShield 14 is also suitable for protecting adults and older populations who are at high risk of pneumococcal infections. Adults, especially those over 50 years of age or with conditions such as diabetes, chronic heart disease, lung disorders, kidney disease, or weakened immunity, are vulnerable to serious pneumococcal illnesses like pneumonia, meningitis, and bloodstream infections. This 14-valent conjugate vaccine offers broader protection by covering 14 serotypes of Streptococcus pneumoniae, reducing hospitalizations and complications. Administered intramuscularly in adults, it plays a crucial role in preventive healthcare by lowering the risk of severe disease, long-term health impact, and mortality caused by pneumococcal infections.

Biovac-TCV (Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine) is an innovative conjugate vaccine developed by Biological E. Limited, India, for the active immunization against typhoid fever caused by Salmonella Typhi. Unlike conventional Vi polysaccharide vaccines, Biovac-TCV uses conjugation technology, where the Vi capsular polysaccharide antigen is linked to a tetanus toxoid carrier protein, significantly enhancing immunogenicity and providing long-term protection even in infants and young children.

Each 0.5 mL dose is presented as a sterile liquid suspension, administered intramuscularly in the anterolateral thigh (infants) or deltoid muscle (older children and adults). Biovac-TCV is suitable for children as young as 6 months of age, making it ideal for early immunization schedules.

The vaccine is supplied in single-dose pre-filled syringes or vials, as well as 5-dose and 10-dose vials, allowing flexibility for both private practice and large-scale immunization programs. Each pack comes with a package insert for safe administration guidelines.

With a shelf life of 36 months, Biovac-TCV must be stored at 2–8 °C and never frozen. It is widely recommended in India’s immunization programs and is also used internationally to reduce the burden of typhoid fever.
